FAQ’s

I am going to go over a few questions that have been asked in the past but also add information that would be useful to you.

How can I book you?

You can E-mail me directly on JMCBEAUTY.MUA@GMAIL.COM please include all of your wedding requirements for example, the date, time and location of your wedding, the approximate amount of services you’d like me to cover just to name a few. I recommend contacting me at least 12 months prior to your wedding to get the best chance of securing your date.

How many services can you accommodate?

I can cover a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6, any more than 6 I would be required to bring in another makeup artist to assist, who is highly skilled and with similar styling to myself.

Do you travel?

I do travel, I will travel anywhere I am needed for your big day. (Any location outside of Dundee will have an additional travel charge to cover the cost of travel) This will be calculated and you will be informed before signing a contract with me.

How do I pay?

A booking fee must be paid to secure your date, this would be done along with signing the contract as your date is not secured without a booking fee and signed contract. The remainder of the balance would be paid the day of your wedding before Starting your services, this ensures that if the bridal party need to go for photos or such as soon as makeup is finished then my services are already taken care of.

Do you offer trials?

Whilst trials are not essential, I strongly recommend them. This is for a few different reasons, it allows the bride time to get to know me as a makeup artist and a person. This allows you to get a feel for your makeup artist, their styling, if you feel comfortable, confident and helps you to decide if your makeup artist will be a good fit for you.

It allows the bride time and options for example what style of makeup you want, what works for you and what products, shades etc are needed for your look.

Doing a trial gives you a preview of how your makeup will look on your wedding day at different times throughout the day, in different lighting and how it photographs.

It allows me to do a consultation to be better prepared for the day of your wedding, time is of the essence especially on your wedding day and me knowing which products to use, what style to lean towards even what skin prep steps you have taken before your big day ( I will advise you of a skin care regime to ensure you have the best skin you can for your big day).

Trials are booked for 2 hours.

Can other members of my bridal party have a trial?

Absolutely! The mother of the bride/groom or a bridesmaid or all of the bridal party can have a trial, in fact if you specifically want your brides maids looks to be cohesive then a trial for at least of of the bridesmaids is a good idea. The mother of the bride or groom may want a trial to ensure I will carry out the specific look that they request.

When should I book my trial?

I recommend booking your trial as soon as you have an idea of the styling of makeup you would like, some brides to be will do their trial for their engagement, for trying on their dress, will do their makeup trial the same day as they have their hair trial just to name a few examples. (this could vary due to my availability).

How do I prepare for my trial?

I advise that you have a good look online etc to get a good idea of the style of makeup you would want, bringing inspiration pictures is great, although be careful not to choose images that are overly edited, you should look for pores, texture, lines etc. Whilst looking for inspiration be sure to look for images of people with the same hair colour, eye colour skin tone as you. knowing what way you will be wearing your hair and what style of dress you will be wearing also helps with the choosing of your makeup style. #If you can it would be a good idea to bring your veil, if not that’s not an issue. I also recommend you wear white to your trial and if you will be tanned its always best to wear the same shade to your trial, this gives you a good feel for your makeup and what you will look like on the day.

How do me and my bridal party know where to be and what time?

The bride will be given a timeline from me, I will be in contact with the photographer, hair stylist, wedding planner, find out how long it takes to get into the dress etc and find out who is needed where at what time, with this I ensure timing is accurate as it is so important to all vendors, the bride and the bridal party to be organised, on time with no rushing about, makeup for the bridal party.

What brands do you use?

I like to use a variety of brands that i trust will stand up strong for a full day and night. I use a mix of high end and professional quality products, some examples are Georgio Armani, MAC cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown and many more. If you have allergies or can only use specific products please let me know upon contact.

How to best prepare for my wedding?

I always recommend a good skincare regime all of the time but especially at the absolute minimum 4 months prior to your wedding. I will send the bride a recommended skin care list and steps to take.

Facials, dermaplaning, facial waxing etc are also great for keeping your skin as texture free as possible. You should give at least 48 hrs of a gap between your last wax, dermaplane etc before your wedding, allowing the skin to calm before your makeup application. Lastly, water, water and more water! keeping you hydrated is amazing for your skin, it plays an important role on having your skin looking and feeling great.
